Dear
friend,
Thank you for visiting the ‘Finest Hour’s’ website. The company was originally set up as a stand-alone initiative alongside our TV and Broadcast companies. Its aim is to help commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. As a TV company, we have been planning for the creation of a new Feature Film about the events of the summer of 1940 since 2004. Until March 2008, everything was going well. Brian Frankish, a well respected and experienced Hollywood Line Producer, accepted that role with our film. He also offered to ‘champion’ the production within Hollywood. He secured the agreement of a top Hollywood Director to direct the film. It was at this same time that the recession hit Hollywood and the financiers we had been talking to took the view that this was not a “US box office safe movie”. The $80m or so required could not be risked until after the recession. As a result of this we came back to the UK with the decision to mark the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain in a different way – by releasing brand new books, DVDs and merchandise alongside a mobile events unit. The aim of this activity was to raise awareness of the 70th Anniversary, but also to connect with parties interested in helping us achieve the ambition of creating this new Feature Film in the UK. Some of the team associated with the 1969 movie have become aware of the film and are assisting us as they can. Guy Hamilton, now living in Spain, has offered to visit the set when we start shooting to help promote the concept to the press. There is no greater story than the truth, and the story of the pilots reflected through the screenplay of ‘Their Finest Hour’ is based on truth, personal recollections and documented evidence . . . It is a powerful and stunning story of heroism, tenacity and sacrifice. Please register your support for this new Feature Film by clicking here, so we can send you further information and share how you too can be associated with celebrating the lives of the pilots whose efforts are recognised as contributing to create Britain’s Finest Hour. . . .
